That's one of the sub headlines
What's it mean really? Let's see it's October. Only 93 shopping days less Turkey Day until Christmas. Add the after Christmas Bargain Sales then watch the headlines read 143,000 jobs lost.
Wonder how they will spin that one this year?
that aside the wonderful usa government has instituted more rules and regulations that are part of the destruction of the country. our economic freedoms are withering away at a pronounced rate and when all is gone we will be a true 4th world country.
A side thought. We as consumers have more trust with the Chinese workers with Dollar Stores and Walmart as our go between than any I can find with the government(s).
I have been reading The Door Into Summer (again), and it has the kind of inspiration needed now. Have you read it, db?
It was published in the same year as AS and has some accurate predictions of technology, too.
"You really left us in a bad spot."
"Au contraire all of you put me in a bad spot. But I had a friend, an adviser and trusted counselor that helped me out."
Really Who?
Who is John Galt."
A flip answer at the time but as it turned out and after re-reading the book I was happy with it. I certainly turned off their motors. And all they had to do was start the same business in the same empty location. They had the know how to do the work except for one missing part. And I hope one of you idiots is reading this lo these many years later."
Wrote out their final paychecks and put them in the mail along with a reporting date and time for their next job assignment. Paid all the bills. Stopped by the bank to ensure the account would cover all the checks and pulled the rest then instructed the when the last check cleared close the account. Cleaned the place out and put a sign in the door. Emigrating To The United States. Back then it made sense.
That was a Friday. On Monday the predictable happened and having not received their mail most went to the addess listed on the door.
It was the unemployment office. I was hit from two directions. Union and Bureaucrats. The address in the mail was the union address.
That was exactly nine part time and six full time employees. Under the required amount for such activity you say? Depends on who is interpreting the rules.
It takes a while to shut a business down. Not if you prepared in advance. In my case I sold it to one of the employees first as a small percentage partner the as a buyout. He moved it to his garage and had one new partner his wife and no employees.
Seven or eight years later.....letter from IRS. You haven't filed business returns for some years.
That's correct the reasons are attached. I'm no longer privy to such information.
Next letter ....
Returned it saying are you telling me or advising me I have to fabricate information and lie to an agent of the federal government?
For all I know they are still trying to word the next dun notice.
