$985M Train to Fresno

Well, Krazy Kalifornia seems hellbent on spending every possible dime of wealth in the Golden State. With inevitable cost overruns, cost of right-of-way acquisition, funds for rolling stock, and so forth, this 28-mile stretch of "high-speed rail" is likely to cost well over $2B. But who's counting. It's only money. And, since ridership is unlikely to come close to break-even, the good citizens of our largest state can look forward to subsidizing this boondoggle for decades to come. Regrettably, Gov. Moonbeam has no Dagny Taggart to call upon to build it.

There already is rail service to Fresno, just not high speed. What I saw was this train won't really be highs peed anyway. I don't think Dagny would build it because it's not a profitable route.| Permalink
