Just today, our state legislators are introducing a bill to create a board to set standards for Wisconsin. While I would prefer this be done at the local level, this is better than CC. The standards board must present their proposals to the legislature for review/oversight. We also have a constitutional Director of Public Instruction (who pushed through the original CC) who has a say, but the law would not grant him the final say, that would be with the legislature. My only concern is that should the legislature turn lefty, this method can be just as bad as the original CC.

Isn't Common Core founded on the idea of outcome based education? I seem to remember something about some university - Harvard, I think? - doing a study which showed that outcome based education was inferior to traditional education in virtually every way. It was more expensive, less productive, and less effective. Why would anyone want it?
