I'm Dr. Rand Paul, devoted husband and father, senator from Kentucky, and 2016 United States presidential candidate.

I am running for president to return our country to the principles of liberty and limited government. I am an advocate of a balanced budget amendment, term limits, and privacy reform. I’m proud to be here in Galt’s Gulch with you today and will be back at 4PM ET to provide answers to your questions.

    Dr. Paul,

    I know you support the REINS Act, however in my opinion it is not strong enough. I have proposed a Regulatory Bill of Rights (RBoR) that gives citizens the power (standing) to challenge agencies and regulations in court. The RBoB allows private citizens to challenge regulations based on them being ineffective or much less efficient at accomplishing the stated goal and holds any contradictory regulations/rulings (between agencies or within an agency) automatically void until the contradiction is fixed. How could anyone be against the idea that regulations should be effective and efficient? I am an attorney and as you probably know the Bill of Rights basically does not apply to regulatory actions. The RBoB like much of our environmental laws allows private citizens who win in court to receive compensation.

    Dr. Paul, Given the rise of ISIS, Russia encroachment into Ukraine and Georgia, Iranian nuclear ambitions, Syria crisis, North Korea nuclear taunting and China building of islands to claim seaways and airspace, our lack of leadership has arguably caused an insurgence of events counterproductive to our own self-interest throughout the world. The libertarian ideology tends to place ideological beliefs higher than one’s own self-interest especially with regards to foreign affairs. If elected president, how would you handle our role as leader of the free world? Can you give some examples of how you would have handled these situations differently? Do you share your father’s isolationist beliefs?

    How do you plan to win the vote of myself and other libertarians who feel you have watered down your father's message (particularly on foreign policy, especially the Iran deal), and also the message that won you your senate seat?

    While I would love to see such a debate, there is an inherent disadvantage in that socialist slogans are easier and quicker to swallow, while the free-market view requires facts, understanding and intelligence which are difficult to dish out and make people absorb in the limited time available.

    It seems that every day we hear of another project stopped because of some endangered species. Given that extinction is a natural part of evolution, is there any case that can be made for limiting or repealing the Endangered Species Act?

    The governmental bureaucracy seems to grow without limit no matter who is in the White House. Do you have any thoughts as to how it can actually be shrunk?

    As an advocate of the free market would you say the government ever has the right to intervene? Especially pertaining to incidents conflicting with consumer rights, monopolies, and environmental regulations?

    How do you stay motivated to "fight the good fight" in terms of libertarian values when the American people and media are forcing candidates to represent themselves to be either democrats or republicans when neither idea fits the mold?

    Second (much less important) question: What kept you sane as a medical student with conservative/libertarian views when the entire system surrounding you thinks you are an idiot ;). Any resources/books you read during your medical school years that you would recommend?

    Dr. Paul. At the CNN debate, you were the only one to mention the Constitution. In your opinion, can our stolen Constitutional rights ever be restored? If yes, how.

    Issue #2, the environment and climate change. More specifically, How do you respond to the international standards being set, TIPA and the TPP, and and how can we overcome businesses tendency to just use these caps as dues to be paid to keep polluting our world.

    Thank you for all that you do to ensure our freedom, rights and liberties are protected as laid out in the constitution. My question... young people everywhere are starting to clue into politics more and more so how do you plan on addressing issues that matter to us?

    Dr. Paul, I am currently a M2 medical student with libertarian leanings. Do you have any comment on the current drug marketing exclusivity and IP laws causing massive pharmaceutical fiascoes such as the current price hike of ~5000% on Daraprim for toxoplasmosis?

    Dr. Paul, there are many who are confused by your plan for a flat tax rather than the Fairtax. Do you believe Fairtax is a good tax reform option? Why do you believe a flat tax is superior?

    The last debate had no discussion of budget, debt, taxes, etc. How are you going to get people to focus on these issues, and away from Trump and immigration, without sacrificing yourself in the process? While you were correct about Trump in the first debate, you lost points with some people by focusing on the negatives of others rather than the ideas, policies, and experiences that set you apart in a positive way.

    Can you say something good about one of your rivals views on stage with you now, and on the left like Sanders? I am sure you are not closed minded. What is something you share in common with them politically. Not so we will support them...but to show people that they can support you also.
