State of Fear

The late Michael Crichton, physician and mega-successful author, was one of the first well-known people to suspect something was screwy with this global warming nonsense. This led to his novel STATE OF FEAR for which he was viciously attacked by the lib-media. It is such as shame that he died before the East Anglia emails were released which vindicated his suspicions. Today, we live in another "State of Fear" when we had an American government, led by a naif, which stands by and watches an ambassador gunned down and then tells sick lies about it. Can we feel safe in our homes when such leaders purchase a billion rounds of ammunition, not for the military, but for a domestic security force? We live in strange and frightening times. Yes, Mr. President. We do fear tyranny. We only have to watch your actions.
I didn't know Mr. Chrichton had died. I have State of Fear in my library. I read it shortly after it was published. It is quite disturbing to see so many things we were warned about from multiple sources coming to fruition... I don't think our POTUS knows what tyranny is. Certainly Hitler, Stalin, or Mao thought they were doing good for their nations too...

I have not read that one. I will have to put it on the list. I am just about done with the Rand Paul book, "Government Bullies" you mentioned to me a few months ago. Thank you. It is quite a collection of tyranny! The kind Obama doesn't believe in...
MIchael crighton did tend to characterize inventors in his story as the typical stereotype mad scientist. it's pervasive in our culture and I generally point it out. For example, there is a popular TV show depicting physicists as at the least lovable anti-socials at the worst, borderline nuts. It's very popular, but it does reinforce that stereotype and when important inventions come about, we are more likely to exalt marketing efforts of a company over the technology creators.
