"The First Picture of My Daughter I Have Ever Hated": Solving A Common Core Math Problem
"My daughter is a 4-year cancer survivor. She is a fighter with a resilient spirit. It crushes me to see her cry; to see her struggle. My daughter deserves a happy childhood."
This photo makes me want to punch somebody in the face, hard. Probably not a healthy reaction. So be it. It is mine, and I own it.
The other three of us were taught to read via phonetics... in my case by my mother. But, he was taught the "word-unit" method, I think it was called. Basically it meant that he couldn't learn any word he had not already seen. Til now, I had never even heard of anything so evil in education.
I've looked over the assignments and reading material. she is right what she being taught does not make sense. I don't know if it is common core or something else the school board selected, but it doesn't make any sense to me and I "work math problems" for a living!
+1
Please don't misunderstand, I abhor Common Core and have been fighting in my own state to get rid of this. That said, I cannot see what could be so complicated that an adult couldn't comprehend it.

Of course, the socialists at UW have been filling her head with all the propaganda of CC.
"Standards are necessary, but not these standards, implemented in this way."
