My paranoia is coming out again.
I view this as an attempt to condition the children to accept whatever authority figures say as being the thing to do. Condition them young and they won't stray when older.
There are countless examples from history of this being done and working well.

The nanny state in action. I am so ready to tell some do-gooder busybody to go... Only the gentleman inside me, restrains me from... What is next, burning Santa in effigy at Christmas? Errrr!

i would hand out copies of "atlas shrugged for kids." in it, an eight-year-old dagny makes a deal with the evening janitor to let her in and hide stashes of hershey's kisses around the school. then, for valentine's day, she sells little treasure maps to the kids who want to impress their crush with the good stuff.
