The problem is with the term "Republican." That does not describe the underlying philosophy of most of those comprising the party ranks. Nor, ironically, does the term "conservative" as typically defined (these would be the "establishment R's"). Conservative means to maintain the status quo. Most of the rank and file of the R party really support fiscal libertarianism, but social anti-libertarianism. I think that it is better to work on those who demand social anti-libertarianism with logical and reasonable rationale as to why they should accept overall libertarianism. Just my thoughts.
