And why the hell would the PO need ammunition? Last I knew, they didn't have a law enforcement function. Not even the postal inspector, such as I understand their responsibilities. And what the hell with the Dept of Ed? They thinking that the kids are going to mount an armed insurrection? And NOAA? Those tornadoes aren't going to go down peacefully.
It's the shell game. The ammo isn't actually going to those departments. They are simply a conduit to other agencies to hide the actual size of their ammo buys. Too much heat has been coming down on the actual numbers for the real agencies. It's all about transparency.
I probably used the wrong one, yes. Shay's rebellion was a rebellion against the Constitution - not the one I had in mind at all.
What I was going for was that if the federal government is stockpiling ammunition to use against the citizenry, I wouldn't put it past a few enterprising souls to plunder them. In fact, I thought I heard a story recently about a local sheriff's department getting raided.
Here is another view on why there are shortages this article from Forbes looks interesting: "Is The Obama Administration The Cause Of Gun Ammunition Shortages?"
With the weather we have had lately sometimes I need a .357 to crack open my mailbox... Brrrrr Seriously, this is outrageous. There can be no justification...
Technically there is no Ammo Shortage according to most Gun Magazines. It is the gun owning public who is to blame, besides the govt. All ammo manufacturers are running 24/7. Besides fulfilling govt contracts first then supplying all the gun stores in the US. Most of the Gun Manufacturers are doing the same, thanks to the Greatest Arms Salesman in the World our president. So, I shop for ammo all over Az. and buy reconditioned eastern european weapons. Lock and Load it is almost time!
Well, one conspiracy theory was that if the bumblement buys a huge amount of ammo and clips, manufacturers will have to expand production to meet the demand.
... After which the gumblement would cease purchases, saddling the industry with so much excess capacity and overhead that bankruptcies would spread like wildfire, thus destroying the ammunition industry in the US.
No, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but those kinds of 'logical conclusions' amuse me.
Uh, last I heard employees are not allowed to bring firearms on the premises. But, if they do succeed in getting idiots to use the PO for financial accounts, they may need to arm the workers for when the account holders come and try to actually get their funds. Ha! Another government entity handling my money? Sure, they've done a bang up job so far with my taxes and fees. I think johnrobert2 is correct. A front for a different destination. And a bait and switch. What is really going on within the realms of the PO?
I already mentioned the Post Office intending to make loans. Apparently the idea uppermost in Post Office minds is...to sell ties! I'm talking about the kinds of ties you wear. Haberdashery! Really it sounds like the PO is desperate for Great Ideas to improve revenues!
I understand that the Post Office intends to make loans of all types at its branches, in addition to its mailing services. Since that would mean each employee could handle thousands of dollars per day, it would make sense to have armed guards on the premises.
There is a series of SHTF books that begins with "Going Home" followed by "Surviving Home" and "Escaping Home". Not bad. I especially liked the first. However, the author describes an interesting use for the Postal Service. Evidently the Postal Service has some interesting potential powers in a crisis/emergency situation including collecting information on residents of homes. I don't know how to find out more about this but it seems like an interesting subject.
This is the part of the story that concerns me the most:
"Additionally, the U.S. Army bought almost 600,000 Soviet AK-47 magazines last fall, enough to hold nearly 18,000,000 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammo which is not standard-issue for either the U.S. military or even NATO.
A month prior, the army purchased nearly 3,000,000 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammo, a huge amount but still only 1/6th of what the magazines purchased can hold in total."
What possible need could the U.S. Army have for ammo that cannot be used by our troops? False flag believers could have a field day with this one....
The AK-47 is the most prolifically manufactured firearm in all the world. I has been manufactured in most non-western nations - and even some of them in the west. If one wanted to quickly arm some entity, that would be the weapon of choice. Reliable, relatively inexpensive, and prolifically produced.
If you wanted to arm anyone, anywhere in the world, with weapons that would not be obviously tied to the US, then the AK47 would be the weapon to do it. Rebels in Syria. Militias in Mexico. Drug cartels in Columbia (whoops did i say that?). Anyone whatsoever.
"Since 2001, the U.S. Dept. of Education has been building a massive arsenal through purchases orchestrated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The Education Dept. has spent over $80,000 so far on Glock pistols and over $17,000 on Remington shotguns."
So....in 13 years they have purchased roughly 200 pistols and 40 shotguns. Not really enough to supply any respectable "black program". An odd government department to be buying firearms, mind.
I remember reading a while back the head of the dept of Education needed his own security detail...while he denies all the children the right to have their schools protected
The next ting I would check is how many combat trained veterans are employed by these agencies. If enough are there this could be the secret army that some have talked about Obama having. Just kidding. It is concerning about non-military and non-law enforcement agencies buying ammo etc.

there is global warming
there is global warming
there is...oh hell its not working
I'll trust individuals with weapons well before I trust any fedgov agency.

Like domestic movie theater, mall, and school 'party crashers'?
The potentials are mind staggering...and sure to make martial law welcomed.

Oh, right. I wasn't a campaign bundler...
