These are the scary people. The ones who think they have a "right" to your children's minds that supersede the parents obligation to raise their children as they see fit.

Why is it that all these pencil neck elitist's "teach" in schools like Harvard? And everyone of them talk exactly the same way. Talk about "Stepford Wives".

And they leave these interviews with the press and go back to their classes of inexperienced children who don't have a clue they are being "programmed" and tell them this garbage. And the parents who send the kids there for a education have no idea what they are getting is training to reject all the parents teaching.

And it starts in elementary school. Whenever I question: What's the eye exam about? Why is the dentist here? Why are you sending bags of food home with certain kids? The response is always, "Well, their parents aren't taking care of it." I hate that! My response? "The school, and the government, do NOT own these kids!" I get looked at as if I'm in favor of bad parenting. They don't get it!!! And they actually take superior pride in the idea that they're saving the world by bypassing parental responsibility and they're so noble for doing so. (At who's-ever expense necessary. From those according to their ability to those according to their need.) Instilling entitled attitudes from the get go.

Children are not property. They are not pawns of the state. They are individual. They belong to themselves. As parents we have the responsibility to raise them, take care of them and educate them. We are care givers for the creator in them.
Too many governments have tried to make children into robots of the state. (Nazi Germany, the USSR, the PRC almost any People Republic of... wants them a totally committed statists.
The current administration would like nothing better than to achieve that goal here in the US. I think Common Core is the first step on the way to that dream.

In resonse to the statement "Your children belong to "All of us"" I say They belong to none of you.

I think the quote was just a poor choice of words, not the mouth speaking out of the abundance of the heart.

The idea of some set of standards defining what a public school diploma means is great. It's badly needed. Maybe they should make several versions. One would be Common Core, another would International Baccalaureate. another could be some liberty-centric curriculum, another focused on trade job skills that pay a decent wage with not further training, and so on. Then people could choose the set of requirements they go for, and their diploma would indicate that.

For those who want to dismantle public education, my idea might be a small first step.

They can specify standards for each grade level with national tests that's fine that's essentially what they did prior to NCLB and Common Core. The issues are still there, some parents don't teach or place expectations on their kids and the whole thing ends up right back where it started.

Which would best be achieved by leaving the supervision/control of the school systems where it belongs, at the local level with the parents.

I say this here regularly. They want your kids. They really do. They admit it. They want them to have transgender bathrooms. They want them to recite blather about global warming. They want them to learn the sexual orientation of historic figures, starting in 3rd grade. They are a bunch of sick bastards.
