Call me a right wing nut, but I don't think a single thing that has happened under president Obama is an unintended consequence. The progressives have been planning and working for over 100 years to get to this point. They realize that this is close to a make or break point for them.
The are going all out to push this country into a socialist state along the European model. They realize that if they don't make it this time, they will most like be pushed out another fifty years at least. (My finger in the wind estimate).
