Definitely. Some players that make that much don't go all out. Sad really.

If I'm not mistaken ball girls don't get paid. Pretty cool to see someone going all out and giving her all instead of just watching the game.

Maybe they should give her the 6 or 7 figure paycheck to play outfield.

It depends on a wide range of skills for all position.
Each player is responsible for a position, but must coordinate with the entire field.
The defense controls the ball.
Statistics matter:
you can strike out two out of three times every game, and still lead the league in Hits or Home Runs. (Babe Ruth famously led in both strike outs and home runs.)
you can be out and still get credit for the RBI.

If you walk, it is like you never went to bat - which is why Dominicans are so aggressive: you cannot walk off the island.
