    Although come to think of it, I think the train cars on the train we took on my senior trip back in 1970 had seats that could do that.

    Interestingly it was the "City of New Orleans" and we got on the train on Monday morning in Kankakee. The song hadn't been written yet or we would have sung it all the way down.

    Can you patent something that is currently illegal?

    Other than that, I would argue it's patentable -- unless someone else can find examples of seats that reconfigure like that on planes or trains.
