"...A "Liberal Paradise" would be a place where everybody has guaranteed

employment, free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free

housing, free clothing, free utilities, and only Law Enforcement has guns.

And believe it or not, such a place does indeed exist ...... ...It's called

prison."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

Phoenix, Arizona

Only reported by the ABC, our government owned and generously funded broadcaster of Greenism.

Indeed. Although many people would label (us?) constitutional libertarians as anarchists when discussing individual issues or legislation.

This is the classic example of
'many a true word is spoken in jest'.

Can I take it, then, from this comment that you consider yourself a constitutional libertarian?

I was thinking the same thing. Our society has become a society of addition to leisure and amusement instead of achievement. Lack of long-term planning and chronic whim worship will be our demise.

He might want to amend one thing. Instead of guaranteed employment, I bet they'd be happier still with no need for employment.

    This is absolutely beautifully put!

I do wish "socialist" replaced "liberal" though. Liberals would generally agree with the free-stuff in the statement, because most are also socialists. However, some liberal objectives are real freedoms, and some conservative objectives are not..

Beautifully articulated. Fortunately, I had parents who addicted me to work and personal achievement..

Both liberal and conservative seek liberty for some things and to restrict liberty in others - and in these two cases they are almost perfectly diametrically opposed. Liberals seek social freedom and financial control, whereas conservatives seek financial liberty and social control. There are two political philosophies that advocate for overall liberty - anarchists and libertarians. Anarchists want absolutely no structure for anything, while libertarians (at least constitutional libertarians) advocate for minimal structure and constitutionally identified controls.

It's not that they don't understand; it's just that they don't value those rights. Progressives/liberals (socialists) are essentially adolescents in their mental development. What teenager values the concept of freedom beyond "can I go play now?" What teenager has a concept of responsibility beyond doing the minimum amount of homework or chores to avoid punishment?

I have spoken to Joe several times at Tea Party rallies and other events and I can verify what you see is what you get! He spoke to our Pinal County Tea group in the church where we meet. When replying to the Fed treatment he gets he said "screw them!" He then sheepishly asked the minister in the front row "Can I say that in here Pastor?"

Sheriff Joe is the best. I lived in Phoenix for a year and got to vote for him while I was there. He has some great ideas but the feds hate him. All the more reason to keep him.

In Sherriff Joe's liberal utopia the "residents" clothing is a lovely uniform color of pink, they get to watch one tv channel, the disney channel and they get to live in the same environment as our deployed military, in tents within a barbed wire enclosure with no air conditioning.

The liberals do not understand that the more rights you surrender to the government, the fewer rights you have, even if you do so under the guise of gaining more security.

So, Sheriff Joe's inviting them all to join him in Phoenix?
I'd be willing to sponsor a few of them if Sheriff Joe promises that they won't be let out on early release.

With not such nice food...on account of the necessary rationing that will be needed to sustain maximum capacities.

I think Joe has it exactly right. Maybe the liberal and progressive politicians should try it for 20 to 40 years.
