Looters and park benches

She's obviously never been to Boise. There are no benches on the streets for people to sleep on and the sidewalks are pretty narrow (three people can walk side-by-side in most places - that's it). The parks downtown all close at 10 pm and the police evict everyone. And it's really hard to play a nice round of disc golf or take your kids to the park when you're tripping over beer bottles from the homeless people.

What I find even more ironic is that there are several good shelters right in downtown but - shock - they aren't being run by the government! And Boise likes it that way. That's probably why the Feds don't like it.

They'd have a place to sleep if they sobered up, got treatment, or went to work. Hopefully, all three.

Yep, and that's what most of the kitchens here do. They don't take on perpetual charity cases and they're selective about those they rehab.

The bigger problem they're running into now are all the refugees from other nations getting dumped here (by the Feds) with poor English skills and traditions not quite so conducive with the American Dream.

Idaho in general is Red, Red, Red. I did not live in Boise but I was on the SE side of the state. I lived in Idaho Falls and Pocatello as I was stationed at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) for about 6 years total. The Navy had a Nuclear Power Training Unit out in the Idaho desert, about 50 miles west of Idaho Falls, now closed. Beautiful areas, lots of outdoor recreation, Yellowstone only an hour away. I grew up in an outdoor world in Wisconsin and I felt right at home there. Whether it was going to Arco and fly fishing in Antelope Creek, or hiking in the River of No Return Wilderness or relaxing in the springs at Lava Hot Springs. If you wanted, SLC is only about a 3 hour drive or an hour to Yellowstone NP and Jackson, WY. If you love the outdoors, Idaho or western Montana are mountainous and offer lots of recreational activities.

Gee, if there were no "Rulers" running GOVERNments which seek only to grow and perpetuate tyranny, we would have no more windmills to tilt. We might even have some Free Time to earn a living, thereby taking care of those within our little circles and growing our prosperity!

At least we all know where we can now safely camp out for however long -
in the US Attorney parking lots,
the US AG's sidewalk, and parking space,
and all over the monuments and lawns of the Federal Monuments in DC.

How do the feds get away with charging fees camping in National Parks ? The AG position must be that this is "unconstitutional"...

I have to get up to Boise sometime. After watching Man vs. Food's Boise episode, it looks like a good place to shrug.

Haven't been there in years but had consulting there and it was a delightful place. Fantastic summer climate, small town friendliness, beautiful scenery. (No imperial entanglements in my 6 weeks there.)

It's a great place to live. You have winter sports close with Bogus Basin and Brundage, Sun Valley if you want to hobnob with the rich and famous. In the summer there's plenty of water skiing. You can float the Boise River or ride the 30+ miles of the Green Belt (bike/jog). And it's a great place to work, as you don't need to make six figures to own a home. Median home prices are around $200K for a 2800 sq ft home on 1/5 acre. And a gallon of milk is under $3, even though gas is right around there as well.

Wanna hear a potato joke again?

    it might get me flagged

Two potatoes standing on a corner in Boise. How do you tell which one is the Democrat? (I used Democrat instead of another word.)

It's the little bitty sticker that says Idaho.

If i have to move back north of the border it's Ashton.

    Where's my flag?

Ashton is gorgeous. And they have AMAZING fireworks displays come 4th of July. The city gets so many visitors that weekend that it grows in size by 10x.
