THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI
We're the battling boys of Benghazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending a country we loved so well.
It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and two stood at the gate.
Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought 'til we died.
We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead seals who carried the load
No thanks to us.........we were just "Bumps In The Road".
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die.
I will mark it up even tho' it is wrong- progressives may make good speeches but have the zero understanding of human emotion equal to their logical abilities.
Edit:
That was all I could reply with at first...
But I think your short poem brings the truth of Benghazi home in a way even progressives might be able to understand.
If you are able,
Save for them a place
Inside of you
And save one backward glance
When you are leaving
For places they can
No longer go.
Be not ashamed to say
You loved them,
Though you may
Or may not always have.
Take what they have left
And what they have taught you
With their dying
And keep it with your own.
And in that time
When men decide and feel safe
To call war insane
Take one moment to embrace
Those gentle heroes
You left behind.
