So as the looters were not satisfied by what the Employer was offering they made sure All were left without a job. 6 extra Union votes assured that the last GE lamp plant in the area closed.

Here is the EPA's official site: http://www2.epa.gov/cfl

Short breakdown: unless you take them to a government-approved facility for disposal, you risk polluting the landfill with mercury!

Oh, and LED bulbs aren't much safer on the environment, as the circuit boards contain other nasty trace elements such as cadmium.

I agree, but believe you are specifically referring to Compact Flourescent bulbs. Incandescent bulbs are the classic tungsten-filament bulbs.

I just had to gawk when I saw the EPA's official cleanup procedures for dealing with broken Compact Flourescent bulbs: http://www2.epa.gov/cfl/cleaning-broken-...

Seriously?!?! So if one breaks, I literally have to call in a HAZMAT squad? And the EPA is pushing these things in order to "save the planet"?!?!?!

Gotta love the complete nonsense coming from liberals.

About half of the union members were eligible to retire. Thus, with a retirement check + plant closing benefits, it was a "no-brainer." (pun intended)

Put in paper sack, hit with hammer, pour contents in big drain in bottom sink, turn on water, flip switch on wall labeled garbage disposal.

Alternative: Find spouse that makes new age art sculpture. Sell to East or West Coast. Buy LED's.

Just imagine all the Mercury filling the landfills because you know most people are just throwing them out, not putting them in glass jars and taking them to proper recycling drop off locations

Of course, this change wouldn't have been necessary had the federal government not banned certain classes of incandescent lights.
