I find it quite interesting that one of the biggest cheerleaders is Elon Musk who got 4.9 billion in subsidies and produces electric cars in California. Now as for emissions, how do man made emissions compare with all of those wildfires in California, releasing all of that heat and carbon? I wonder...

I think California is currently somewhere between 1 & 2% electric. The problem is these politicians think that electricity magically appears at the outlet in your home. It doesn't. Any significant increase in electric cars is going to tax California's generating capacity beyond its limits. So that's going to require more power plants. But it has been established that conventional, fossil fuel based plants generate more of the nasty greenhouse gases per mile than fossil fueled cars. So, to maintain their utopia, they'll need to start building hundreds of new nuclear power plants. And given the lead time for these babies, they should have started, oh say, 20 years ago.

Heretofore, the California Car has set the trend for the country, for a simple reason: California had the most population, as you may discern from its having had the largest delegation in the House of Representatives.

Today, not so much. It's beginning to look to this observer like "will the last one out, turn out the lights, if the lights are even still on."

I always used to say: the more salubrious the climate, the crazier the politics. But now I think we're going to see a limit to just how crazy the politics can get, before people decide California is a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live (and pay taxes) there.

One can only describe the liberals understanding of economics and physics as "mystical". To alter thermodynamics by decree is no more rational than to dictate economic realities by the same method. The economy is much like an engine with a large flywheel. When the engine runs out of fuel it keeps spinning for a while due to the stored energy in the flywheel in the form of momentum. However, eventually the mechanism will stop rotating because of the combination of friction and drag. This analogy is as real for economics as it is for physical dynamics. The liberals are cutting off the fuel and hope to rely on stored energy for the indefinite future. Belief that this will work is like believing in perpetual motion. Nothing is for free and eventually the bills must be paid.

gut wrenching actions by the ca. loonies. give ca. to china as collateral. then default so the get it and keep it. then build a fence 20 feet high from mexico to oregon and then west to the ocean with no gates. anyone wanting to come to the usa would have to sail to either or/wa or through the panama canal. ca. is a bad joke that never seems to end.

When Washington comes up with this nonsense I feel as if I've been stuffed down the rabbit-hole but instead of Wonderland, I am in Irrational-Land. Half the citizens are blind. Most of the other half deaf. The remainder are blind and deaf. The cars are manufactured with dents and scratches already in them, since they are such poor drivers that dents and scratches are considered decorative. The engines are electric, but are worked by a hand cranked generator. They have to stop every ten miles and crank the power back up. They only go 30 mph but they can do 55mph going down the western slopes of the Rockies.

Never fear. Mexican truckers will be happy to come in and move it for us.
