As opposed to the National Guard which could be nationalized. Don't forget there are foreign troops in the US (50.000+ Russian troops in Colorado) conducting joint exercises. There is also 30,000 Chinese just over the border in Mexico. Wonder what they are doing?
The idea of a "well-regulated militia, necessary to the security of a free State" was that the State militias would belong to each State, and an unwillingness of militiamen to oppress one's neighbor, or turn one's neighborhood into a battle zone, would act as a check on oppression.
The important thing is what would they do in a real scenario. I would rather that they put down they're arms after the government miscalculates and sends them in. They receive pay for these exercises so I wouldn't bite the hand that feeds me just yet. Besides, the training and access they get can just as well be used against their superiors when asked to turn on their innocent neighbors. If you haven't seen Red Dawn, original or remake, I'd suggest seeing it.
These exercises could also be meant to weed out those that won't fire on their own, a test, in other words. Look at what's happening in the upper levels of the military. Generals are dropping like flies.
My thoughts on that are not printable. The Ohio NG that has that for a scenario should have it CO and training officer removed. They are supposed to use true live situations and not totally fabricated one. Also if they are acting in the United States we have either Martial Law declared in Ohio and the NG under federal auspices or the Governor has called them out to control a natural disaster or civil unrest. In any of these situations, 2nd amendment supports would be an asset not a threat/target. I will not comment further, It really pisses me off when crap like this happens. It tarnishes the reputation of the Guard needlessly.
but what did you think about the Ohio NG conducting an exercise that portrays 2nd amendment supporters as internal terrorists that would chemically attack a school full of children?
