The weak explanations given as to why the film was dropped ranged from it not actually being a documentary, to not really of interest. Really. That's not what I've noticed.

No, sorry I wasn't clear enough. I was talking about the universe. If the earth was at the center of the universe, then either the sun revolves around the earth, or the center of the universe is revolving around the sun. And if the Center of the universe was revolving around the sun, the whole universe is revolving around the sun.

They were talking about the center of the universe, you're talking about center of the solar system.

....... so the earth rotates around the sun, but earth is the center of the universe, so the whole universe rotates around the sun? Hold on I need to go draw some circles to make sure I'm understanding this.

Since what we see is coming to us at a constant velocity from all directions, we cannot possibly determine the center of the universe. We can only observe what has reached us after travelling an incredible distance and time.

Where did I reference End of the World? End Game refers to the current system. Life goes on.

The expansion of the universe and the way it expands is often cited to illustrate that the universe has no center in the sense that we typically mean when we say "center".

..... If the earth was at the center it would be impossible for it to rotate around the sun. It's impossible to launch satellites predictably if you believe the earth is at the center. Other than that I can't think of anything.

    Re: Hiraghm,

The following statement, "shut his fucking mouth," really doesn't become you. Usually I'm delighted to read your comments, but do you really think that the church powers of Galileo's time spoke that sentence?

Typical liberal position, make up your mind and refuse to even hear an opposing view.

That reminds me of and old quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald which speaks to the quality of a liberals mind.
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.

No one has proven the earth is not at the center of the universe. Is there a problem that it does or does not reside in the center? I do agree the earth revolves around the sun.

Correct, but, right or wrong, should Galileo have been forced ' to shut his fucking mouth' until the church was ready.
    Correct to say,
'this was an extreme period of superstition and unrest',
'plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose'
the more things change the more they stay the same.
