The attached article is just another example of why we don't need big government. In it you'll see that it was Consumer Reports that made the discovery - NOT the FDA or any other governmental agency. More proof that the private sector can perform better than the government.

A few months back, I overheard a conversation about Obamacare where one person asserted that we needed single-payer, because, I kid you not, he liked having things like the FDA and EPA watching out for our health.

I thought about it, and came up with the ESRB as an example where you don't need government oversight to protect consumers.

The ESRB video game rating system is purely voluntary. I can write video games all day long and put them up on the internet, or put them in sandwich bags and sell them at the mall, whatever, without ESRB rating.
HOWEVER... Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will *not* publish a game that doesn't have an ESRB rating. If you want to be a console developer, after spending the fortune and jumping through the hoops to become one, you're going to have to submit your product to ESRB rating to get it on a console.
And the ESRB is not a government entity.

    Happy Birthday, again, btw.

And, yeah, if I find any globular warming, I'll share. People at work have taken to wearing sweaters and hoodies in the store, and not just in the frozen food sections. The HVA system just can't keep up with this cold.

Market forces will do that. Or 3rd parties like
Consumer Reports. If there's a need, the market will provide. Better and cheaper than the government to boot.

if the limit was meaningful, we'd have half the population at significant risk for cancer. I see class action coming...
