One note, these are not street legal, but perhaps could be made to be.

Everyone please keep in mind that military vehicles are designed to require regular maintenance. And the maintenance intervals are shorter than a civilian vehicle, and require far more actual work be done. For example, the Gama Goats I used to tool around in had 75+ grease fittings that had to be serviced. Not to mention those had 48V electrical systems, so four batteries.

If off-road capabilities are what you are seeking there are civilian alternatives that are nearly as good with far fewer headaches.

Cool, If you can now title them that would awesome. I used one in Iceland when I was stationed there. It was a hardtop but it worked great in the snow however, the diesel did not like the cold. They replaced it with a gas one right before I left, so I did not get to drive that one very long. Being in the Navy, I drove ships not Humvee's that much.

Getting a "drive on the road" title isn't as easy as the article seems to indicate. It also depends on the individual State Requirements. In all cases the vehicle has to be brought up to emission standards for the year it was manufactured, and many states require the safety standards be brought up as well. That could mean installing air bags, etc.
