First month's charge for producer membership just appeared on my credit card statement. I cancelled my Netflix account so I could get the full experience here (living on a tight budget). So far... totally worth it.

Hi EitherOr - you're right, in fact this site is under valued. Sometimes I'm not even active in a month but my credit card bill converting from USD keeps me connected.

  Hi! I'm actually worried I'll have to watch myself- lately I've been reading through posts and suddenly realized I have to leave in 5 min for an assignment (I'm a photographer). If I'm not careful being a "producer" here could keep me from producing in my outside life!

That says a lot to the value of this site. It is also why they have the two options. It is literally the difference between being a moocher and a producer. It's not so much the money, but the mentatlity. Good decision!

I find that getting news here is very good because people do a good job of scanning the net for relevant info. It's become a great one stop news source.

  You are so right. I have a mail box full of unopened mail because I need to unsubscribe from some sites that have become superfluous... We now have so many great contributors that glean the web when I find something I wish to post it is often already here.

    I think it is an unintended consequence of having the point system and being productive. There's no censorship, just value by immediate vote. It is a fine example of capitalism on the net.
    
    It has turned out to be valuable for a site dedicated to a movie and a book. : )

    I am outside the US and so Netflix is the ONLY TV I have. and even it is kinda behind on seasons of shows. I have no idea whether or not Don cheated on Meagan

      you got me kh - no, I actually stopped watching after Transformers 2. I realized the dialogue was just something to transition between action scenes, and story was nonexistent (true of so many new films).
      
      Don cheating on Megan?! Do you mean to tell me mad men is back on?!? OMG I've got to catch up. No spoilers! does everyone hear that? NO SPOILERS!!!

        I love movies too. Or at least, I used to. Not so much lately. That "4" is the reason. More and more the movies shown in theaters are based on franchises and marketed for international audiences, i.e. action and special effects don't require translation into other languages.
        I'd complain about all the books being made into movies lately too but... that's not always a bad thing :)

How long does it take to be processed? I have tried to upgrade three times now. (Watch me get billed for me, myself and I)
I got no confirmation screen and nobody answered the “contact us’ text I sent. *sniff*

    I got an error message the first time. I might have had trouble reading my security code from my card, but I corrected that, but I got redirected to the form page without an error message the next time. I clicked on the black tab at the bottom of the screen the day I joined. (two, maybe three days ago) That day I tried upgrading twice. I tried upgrading once more, trying a different card, either yesterday or the day before. I also replied to an e-mail sent to my e-mail address. (I think it was a standard form e-mail so I wasn’t really expecting a response. I think it had your sig on it.:))
