The possible silver lining I can see is that it may become too expensive to provide government-sponsored housing at all because of this lunacy.

This mentality of race-based "outcomes" is also an ongoing assault on private owners. It has been used in some states for years to try to force individual owners to participate in state rent subsidy programs. They impose onerous regulations on the property owner and grant owner-provided entitlements to renters -- such as making it practically impossible to evict a bad tenant.

Because so many property owners -- other than large scale slumlords who treat it as cost of doing business to get government paid rent -- don't want anything to do with it, the left has been litigating to force it on the owners. Owners' criteria for accepting good tenants, having nothing to do with race, are overridden based on the racial "outcome" mentality becoming entrenched in law.

This attack on private property rights is a part of a very destructive trend. It will not reduce government intrusion through housing programs, it will make it worse. It will continue to destroy the private housing market. They already complain about the lack of enough good private rentals and this will make it worse. The costs of government failures are always used to scapegoat and to expand government power. They don't care about the rising costs; that only becomes another excuse to raise taxes and borrowing. This trend is driven by an anti-private property, anti-individualist ideology of statism and collectivism, not costs.

By a 5 to 4 vote, Sonia Sotomayor, the irrational looter (who was promoted by George HW Bush and Bill Clinton, appointed by the racist in chief and confirmed by 9 GOP senators) forces her socialist will on all those who formerly had property rights.
