One way for liberals to resolve all the contradictions running around their heads is to drink. Being in a nonstop state of cognitive dissonance has to be psychologically painful. Drink solves nothing, but it diminishes that pain, and it also allows for at least short term forgetting. I'd drink a lot more too if I was trying to convince myself I was compassionate because I advocated spending other people's money.

I can see Malcolm Gladwell making a book out of this topic. Is there an inverted U curve in here?

In some ways this makes perfect sense. If you are socialist you obviously have no incentive to work, so why not sit around and drink all day while a producer pays for it. On the other hand, in a world headed that way, I can see a conservative needing to drink more just to get through the day. Half the time when I read the news or talk to people with socialist ideas i think I must be half drunk...or maybe they are???

Either way, I can picture a lot of people wanting a drink just to get through all this current BS
