Strike at IU !??!

According to my daughter, a "practice strike" was held Monday, which got a bit rowdy. In my day, a student strike, whether or not I agreed with it, was at least over important issues such as war, civil rights, etc. I posted this link which seems to be the game-plan of these protesters. Oddly, if the University gives in to their demands it would RAISE costs and therefore tuition. A case of shooting oneself in the foot? At any rate, this is a case study in the execution of your basic liberal agenda, and a rather milquetoast one at that. Where is their outrage over the war in Afghanistan, drones, Monsanto, Wall Street, etc.? Oh yeah, these are all areas that Ovomit supports.

- 1Posted by fivedollargold 12 years, 11 months agoBad news for the IU strikers. It rained on their parade (literally). Tonight they tried to occupy a classroom but were expelled by the cops. One protester has been arrested, that I know of. Strikers are marching on the police station.| Permalink
- 1Posted by ObjectiveAnalyst 12 years, 11 months agoThe price of a college education has skyrocketed. It is way out of proportion. On this point I agree with the students. The law of supply and demand is at play. The easy financing and pushing for more graduates than the job market requires particularly in some fields by the government has lead to higher demand and the colleges have raised tuition. What I don't understand is, if there is such a demand, then why don't these students start their own college and compete after graduation with their alma mater? Competition would bring down prices, but that isn't a communist tenet...| Permalink
