WHOA! When I was a kid I would have bartered my soul for that hat. Mom is right, we'll never see the like again. We are to live in a world of woosies. Even the movies turned the Lone Ranger into a wimp. It makes me want to slap certain people upside the head and shout get real!
I love it. This brings back many memories for me. In the 1950s, Roy owned the major part of the Yellow Jacket boat company and I had the great honor at the ripe age of 14 (this is some 60 years ago) racing his boats (he kept the trophies) and going on camping trips in Southern California where he would run the boat as a bunch of us would water ski behind him. He was a fine man, and I have thought of him over the years. Thank you for point this video out.
Roy Rogers was the biggest thing in the Westerns of that day and predates Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, and many of the others. His merchandise still shows up at antiques shows and sells quite well.
It may look ridiculous, but is it any more so than anything current movie stars wear?
Got one for my birthday one year...leg holster and all. I had an uncle who worked at a fireworks factory in Pennsylvania, so I had all the caps I could handle!

Too bad it's as extinct as Jurassic times.
Not if they ever wanted to work with as a "western" actor again. Roy's fans would never forgive them.
;^)
Love shooting off fireworks! I made some in high school with model rockets, chemistry stuff, magnesium shavings, etc.
I played with these things all the time: http://www.antiquesnavigator.com/d-83209...
Took me forever to figure out what real gun it was modeled after, even after my father in law showed me his. It was a Whitney Wolverine. Very cool.
