Exactly when. I always found it offensive that the real villains of the story were never portrayed. Well, when the producers have nothing left to be stolen, the animals will start feeding on each other..

the BBC TV series Robin Hood from I think 2004(?) is the correct version. It's fun. I think 3 or 4 seasons. I also thought the recent movie version stayed true to that theme

There is the Robin Hood of legend. The Sheriff and Nobles had been taxing the peasants into the ground. Essentially, it was a case of the non-productive stealing from the productive. Robin Hood took their money back and returned it to them. The real Robin Hood was Ragnar. The Hollywood version of Robin Hood Stole from the Rich to give to the poor, leaving out how the wealth came into existence in the first place, and making him into a joke.

it makes you wonder when the legend of Robin Hood changed-20th century indoctrination and revisionist story telling

This is an interesting observation, given that Ragnar's declared enemy in AS3 was the spirit of Robin Hood. By his actions in the novel, one could say he actually is the true form of Robin Hood.
