Top Climate Change Myths

I read a recent blog post in scientific American about a survey of published scientific papers on climate change. The articles were from 2012 -2013. Out of 9K articles, only one denied the manmade claims. Most of the reasearch is fueled through govt backed grants and studies. As well, scientific journalists write, not research. The blog post ended with the ever tired cry "Do Something!" There can be no political agenda in Science.

    Good morning khalling,
I believe this site has some of the best opposing arguments available. http://www.climatedepot.com/
I thought one of the most impactful statements I have heard recently, was on Stossel the other night from one of his quests. Alex Epstein on Fox with John Stossel: Epstein is president of the Center for Industrial Progress: 'The fossil fuel industry is not taking a safe climate and making it dangerous. They are taking a dangerous climate and making it safe. Anyone who contradicts me should try to go outside right now (in brutal cold) and live naturally in harmony with nature.'
    Regards,
    O.A.

There is no consensus among scientists.
Climatology is a branch of political science.

Science does not operate by "consensus". Truth is Truth, no matter how much some want to poll their way to "truth."

Of course, you are correct. I posted this discussion regarding the myth of scientific consensus in part to show yet another lie perpetuated by those with an agenda. Also, the concept of "denier" is quite a manipulative and powerful arguing tactic. I'd prefer to not even have it on my radar since it isn't scientifically proven. But it is such a pervasive political agenda -a fervent religion, I have to spend significant effort on it to avoid having its poison affecting every aspect of my life through force. They already use it as a justification for population control discussions. From the excellent site OA provided: Al Gore pushing for "fertility management" of africans to hedge against unusual weather. seriously dangerous thinking

Maybe "fertility management " isn't all that bad. Had it been applied some 50 yrs ago with one particular African immigrant, perhaps we wouldn't be in such a socialist state of healthcare.

I'm from Illinois. As such I'm uniquely positioned to make terrific observations on weather. We have a method of predicting weather that exceeds the accuracy of any government agency.

The method? We look out the window, then open the door and step out. No politics involved. Observation. The first step in scientific methodology. It's also the step that these climate change "scientists" blow.

When we step out the door, we know that the weather will change and that it can go hotter OR colder.

The climate change scientists have an agenda to support and if their predictions do NOT match reality, they look for a way to change the data in order to correlate data and reality.

We have a "Weather Telling Rock". When it's wet, we know it's raining. When it's white, we know it's snowing. When we can't see it, we know it's foggy.

The article above was written in the 90s when the craze was just beginning. Note the scientific focus of that time on global warming had not reached the fever pitch it now currently enjoys. Here is a more recent article showing surveys of peer reviwed scientists and their clear skepticism. There is no scientific consensus on manmade global warming or need for action.

This talk of "Global Warming" always reminds me of the Time article in the 70's about the "Coming Ice Age." It's amazing how in 20 short years mankind did so much to the planet that we changed from a coming ice age to a coming global desert. And now, for 15 plus years, no change in climate temperature at all. Wow, we must be doing a fantastic job on the GW issue!
