The Benefits of Welfare

This is what we Christians might call a "Come to Jesus" moment.
Filthy, exhausted, so hungry she can't keep food down, she takes the oath... and by the end of the movie, she and hers are wealthy... again.

Imagine, however, the situation if there had been a "social safety net" to catch her, and save her from her misery, hunger and humiliation.

Don't get me wrong; I don't "get off" on seeing people, particularly beautiful women, being ground-down (that's the sport of progressives and other communist filth), but, if there's no hunger knifing into your belly, what's the incentive to improve your lot? And how do you learn, really learn, the reward of forging your own destiny, of knowing you *can* control your future, that you're not adrift on a raging ocean of time and space, subject to every current and eddy?

Depending on how (and if) I survive this era of my life, I may be able to look bad with pride at how I, being who and what I am, survived and endured. I don't know of anyone who ever looked back on a welfare check with pride. Certainly no one worth the price of a bullet.

I think they'd come in under the heading of "people". Those slasher movies some people get off on seldom have ugly women running around in their underwear screaming, for example. Or ugly men, for that matter.

I have never taken any kind of public assistance no matter how down on my luck I was. I took some help from friends to get back on my feet, but not from the gubmint (taxpayers).
