The Golden Pinnacle is an epic novel by Robert Gore (straighlinelogic – what a surprise that he would write an epic) similar to Hawaii, The Thorn Birds, and Little Big Man that spans between the Civil War (1st Progressive push in US) and the end of the WWI (Second Progressive push in US). Like Little Big Man we meet a number of historical characters, but the way they are portrayed may surprise you (It would be interesting for straighlinelogic to detail all the historical characters in the book). The author ties all the parts of the grand story together seamlessly. The characters are well developed and fascinating, the author writes with equal skill about war, love, business, family, etc., all the while giving you a though provoking look at unique time in US history. I highly recommend this book.

The book is called The Golden Pinnacle because the author believes and I agree that it was one of the most creative times in history. The historical account he portrays is not what you will find in any text book. He takes President Lincoln to task, attacks the reasoning for the civil war, presents the robber barrons in a different light (not all favorably), shows the absurdity of the ICC, the Federal Reserve and the proponents of these ideas. Given the amount of historical research Mr. Gore must have undertaken I think it would be interesting if he would write a non-fiction history of the time that corrected the myths and lies used to promote Big Government. Thanks for the excellent book.
