Why Key West is a Paradise on Earth

One of my motorcycle trips that I'm most proud of is one I took to Key West. The lack of politicians there, and rules in general makes it a paradise for no other reason. It's not the tropical atmosphere, or the crazy behavior on Duval Street. It's the spirit that most share there of freedom, and a love for it.

I have friends that own a couple of places in Duck Key. We rent nearby regularly and last September I took the wife, by way of boat, here for dinner one night. http://www.urbanspoon.com/rph/144/920445... We have dined there several times over the years but this was the first time I took the boat. The ride home under the stars was something to remember, much like the sunset earlier.

we stayed in Marathon. in these crazy little hexagonal houses up on stilts with wraparound screened porches. I rode my bike all over the place and back and forth across the bridge many times.
I did not enjoy the traffic but I did enjoy the ocean

I'm not the party animal I once was, but I can still keep up when the mood strikes me. Nowadays I prefer the laid back feeling of the Middle Keys, but I never miss an opportunity to drive down over the seven mile bridge and enjoy the view.
    The feeling is mutual. :)

I bet. I thinks its something that would degrade over several visits. I knew there was something I liked a lot about you. The Florida Keys are just one of those special places.

I vacation in the Florida keys. We rarely visit Key west or Duval Street anymore, unless we are with friends who want to. Over the years I have spent many a wonderful afternoon at Kelly's enjoying happy hour and conversing with fellow travelers while my wife shops on Duval... Good times and many stories...
