Ragnar Danneskjöld is returning from rough seas for Atlas Shrugged Part III: Who is John Galt?

Plus, with your help, he’ll be making an appearance in the Atlas Shrugged movie store as well. We KNOW Ragnar is deserving of some great gear; unfortunately, there isn’t a logo befitting a philosopher turned pirate. Not yet anyway.

The “Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?” production team invites you to design the logo for "Danneskjöld Collections" or "Danneskjöld Repossessions." Share your vision with us, and we’ll select the logo that best represents Ragnar and his mission. The winning Danneskjöld logo will be used in the Atlas Shrugged movie and on Atlas Shrugged movie merchandise. Plus, the winning design will receive $500.

For a full design brief and to submit your logo concept, please visit: http://99designs.com/logo-design/contest...

Submissions are due by Monday, January 13th.

GO.

Oh please. Make sure Ragnar hands Rearden a gold brick on a dark road.

Absolutely. It's a key moment in the story, as it shows the point where Hank Rearden starts to think about the strikers, though he does not know it yet.

The only trouble with putting that scene in a movie: each of us has our own vision of it from reading the book (true of most great literary scenes). Whatever is filmed is unlikely to fit what most of us hold in our imaginations. It is, however an essential scene.

Instead of a logo, I found myself coming up with an acronym:

    Lost city (Galt's Gulch) + ship =... A.T.L.A.N.T.I.S.

Against The Looting And the Nefarious Tyrrany It Serves.

Perhaps not the best wording, & just a passing thought ;]

Allied Danneskjold Recompensation and International, Financial Transaction company. (ADRIFTco.). Logo is said wording in a ring around a center logotype artwork: a pair of pirate's curved cutalsses in the background behind a large, sleek modern vessel (preferrably the one used for his ship in the movie) with a outlined dollar sign in "outlined" high metallic gold font superimposed over the front.

Sorry, I don't have my cadcam up and running (server backing up - arrghhh!) and I don't know what you're using for his ship, but the description is pretty self explanatory.

While the initials spell "Adrift" (representing cutting the looters adrift) it would not appear in initial form on the logotype - face it, Ragnar is to brilliant to resort to that, realizing a wise person would make the connection without it thrown in their face.

    How about gold writing:

    A ≠ ~A
    Reality Fights Back!

    On a black field.

Ragnar was the true philosopher of the group.

Reminds me of a line from Roadhouse. The doctor is stitching up Patrick Swayze. Sees he has a college degree and is stunned that it is philosophy. She asks him if he loses much. He says something to the effect that the people who go looking for trouble usually are not much difficulty for people who are ready for them.

What an amazing challenge! To compete in this "Realm of Ragnar", I would have needed to have read a range of Rand's publications - to appreciate who R.D. really was. Mea Culpa! Alas, I am not worthy to compete, but I'm confidant that many of you are!

As many of you know, I can't draw worth a damn. All that went to Amanda. But try this on for size:

Crossed white cutlasses on a black field, letters "R" on each side at cross-over, with the gold "ATLAS" figure in the open center of the crossed cutlasses. R's are for 'Ragnar's Repossessions'.

I am not an artist, but want to share (yes, share in the hope of inspiring someone with skills I do not possess) a possible partial concept. Ragnar has a degree in philosophy. He is a man of action who thinks. Macguyver comes readily to mind, though his motives were quite different.

Ragnar needs a knife. Not Macguyver's Swiss Army Knife (though I would bet he carries one or a "multitool"). He needs something "swashbuckling", but utilitarian at the same time. A sword seems impractical other than as a symbol of his status on board his ship.

What sort of knife would Ragnar carry? Something concealable for when he is ashore. Something with multiple uses--be it as the needed tool of the moment or for self-defense. And something that is precisely functional for every possible use, high-quality, and with just the right amount of "personal style", perhaps his monogram or a dollar sign (though I think that would look corny on film), or.....? I can imagine a symbol that would be misunderstood by those who do not understand him--a sword to the heart, for example.

Remember, Ragnar will have thought long and hard about his personal blade and has the means to have something custom-made if need be. So....what would Ragnar carry?

I can see Ragnar as somewhat similar in style to the captain of the "Sea Shepherd", but of course entirely different in motive and personality.

That's not just excellent, it's essential: Ragnar Danneskjöld is the counterpoint to the looter mentality, the real "Robin Hood" (who restored confiscated goods to their rightful owners, those who had properly earned them) and the character who turns "Atlas Shrugged" from a philosophical rumination into a legitimate economic and social call to action.

Ragnar should have handed Hank a bar of gold in the 2nd movie, because he did in part 2 of the book.
Generally speaking, the movies so far have left out a LOT of good stuff, and I doubt very much that John Galt will speak for 3 hours in the third movie
