I'm freezing my global warming but off this winter. This summer will be worse in my opinion. We have a history of getting the kind of summer Australia gets and they are setting record highs this year. All the record lows will be forgotten if we get record highs.

Do you see your state pushing for programs aimed at throwing money at perceived disasters?

We are a blue state but we have a Republican governor right now. They are too busy fleecing us for road and bridge repairs. Our car registration fees are going to double, gas tax increase of 28 cents per gallon and higher tolls. A nice gift to the unions.

Wow an additional .28 in taxes per gallon? That's anoticable increase. Even in a blue state people have got to complain about that. I like the idea of private toll roads, but when they say they have to increase the tolls for repairs, I 'm always wondering why they weren't using the existing revenue for repairs. Where did all that revenue go?

Not only that the easy pass system is working. We are paying fewer toll booth people but we need more money? I wish I could remember who said this but some have theorized that gas prices don't have to go up. They will only go up if the greedy oil companies want to raise the price. The tax is being applied at the wholesale level so some think the retail price can stay the same. How do you even start to argue with someone like that?

maybe you could compare it to the price of food. people notice when the cost of produce goes up or a box of cereal gets smaller. a tax is a cost-pure and simple. Not only that-for every increase in actual cost-the retailer has to incorporate their markup. People don't understand how that works either. whatever the markup percentage is-at each stage, you get the multiplier effect. so that additional 28 cents per gallon will be more than that at the pump. whew! pretty soon, your freight bills are going to mean the prices in your store will have to raise accordingly.
politicians should be forced to take classes in this stuff-oh that's right-they don't CARE
