"Sixty three years ago, Russian-born philosopher and writer Alissa Zinovievna Rosenbaum, better known under her pseudonym Ayn Rand, wrote in her novel Atlas Shrugged a few stunning words that describe perfectly the sad reality of a hybrid regime in Venezuela, which mixes communism, incompetence, ignorance and corruption."

    I wrote a letter to my Representative John Dingel D, Senators Carl Levin D, and Debbie Stabenow D drawing parallels with Atlas Shrugged and their political agendas. That was about two weeks ago and so far zero response. Hopefully they are reading the book or at least the Cliff Notes to understand my letter. This could be a little too cerebral for them to digest.

    Great article. It surely seems like we are following the Venezuelan model in many ways. I love Ayn's quote in the article.
    “When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing;
    When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors;
    When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you;
    When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice, you may know that your society is doomed.”
