The intro was fine, since it efficiently introduced that rail transportation was important and the existence of a pirate. Music was stereotypical pieces evoking sadness:( First scene with Willers and Taggart showed the two talking tensely, as if reading a script. When Dagny entered, she clearly went to a proper acting class, emphasizing ideas properly. When Dagny saw Reardon, and he said he could have charged far more because of her emergency, Dagny should have used Rand's own words, diving into the idea of the moral purity of self-interest quickly in the book. Instead, in the movie, Dagny talked about Taggart Transcontinental's *need*. Them's as far as I got in the few minutes I watched. I'll tell more tomorrow.

    Oh, I liked the first meeting between Reardon and Dagny very much. Let’s face it. Ayn Rand wrote a lot of words; there would be no way to get all the words into one movie. Besides, the movie producers and directors have something Ayn Rand did not have in the way of communicating: visuals.

      HI Mimi. Well, tomorrow I'll check out some more of the movie and then post another comment about it. The fact that Rand wrote a lot of words is beside the point here, Mimi. My point is that instead of using the efficient way that Rand immediately dives into the main theme, the producers weaken the first meeting between Dagny and Reardon by instead referring to the need of the train company. Don't hassle the difference of opinion between us too much, Mimi. Let's see what the coming days bring as I look at more and more of the movie. You know, nothing prevents you from taking a few minutes each day and posting your own analysis of the movie. It would be interesting to see how your ideas differ from mine!:)

        Well, today I did go more into the movie. Apparently the best actors thus far are Dagny Taggart, Wesley Mouch, and Orren Boyle. They both know how to slow down appropriately to emphasize points. James Taggart gives me the feeling of someone who just entered acting school. He has little control over what he says. I listened to another 10-15 minutes today. I felt, looking deeply within myself, that something was really missing. I felt I wanted more of the philosophy to be woven into the story. It was not there I felt as if I were getting the appearance of Atlas Shrugged but without the essence. Ellis Wyatt acted hard but appropriately (except for the way he pronounced "Bullshit!") The director needed to be far more sensitive to the need for pregnant pauses and speedups, to suggest that something of tremendous importance was taking place. That's all I have to say for today.

          I came from a totally different starting point I have been a John Galt because of some shady things i saw. At first the movie was a little slow but i restarted it on a different day because I knew this was a movie I could have written about my own life logic and understanding about the need to stop the machine that runs the world.
