Yet again, point out the absurdity of a situation, and you're the cretin. The ever open-minded, tolerant left... as long as you agree with them 100%.

I don't consider it mental illness. I think of it more like having mousy brown hair and dying it red because you always wanted to be a redhead.

    Jan, does not dye hair

I do not actually make the same distinction you do: to me, getting a facelift or tats are the same as changing gender: You are sculpting your body into what YOU want it to be. (You and I agree on societal pressure.)

On the topic of backlash - yeah. That is fine. Other people have other opinions and they should be able to state them. You can mod your body; they can rag on your for so doing.

Egyptian and Polynesian monarchies encoded adult incest into the marriage customs of their royal families. So did European dynasties, though they had to get the pope's permission (and that would not be for siblings or offspring). Unlike you (and I am not a mother, please note), I have no problems with the concept of incest.

Those that are shocked by this story/issue are NOT the abnormal ones in the discussion.

Seeking a sex change is the abnormal behavior. By not recognizing it as such, we are ignoring the real problem these people have. The compassionate thing to do is to urge the Bruce Jenner's of the world to seek psychiatric help as is now advocated by those that first pioneered the procedure only to realize it was mistake (see Johns Hopkins article-- http://www.wsj.com/articles/paul-mchugh-...)

Even by PC standards, I don't see what was so offensive about what Eastwood said. I mean, Jenner WAS a famous athlete. If not for that, nobody would care if she had man parts, lady parts, or reproduced by fission.

hmm, I don't find it "wrong," but I make a big distinction between getting a facelift and changing genders. But people surely discuss "normalcy" and objective reality. If you are a person who reasons gender change is mutilation, and even if you want to be abhorred by it, you are now the abnormal one expressing an abnormal opinion. I don't care for that societal pressure. Caitlyn's coming out was indeed an attempt at glorifying her sex change. She has to be prepared for some backlash.

I had a discussion, maybe with Zen, one time about adult incest. what two adults who are consenting get up to-right? Well, probably as a mother, I am so horrified by the concept-I would never support it as being normal or sane for that matter. Am I being perfectly objective?

I don't care if a person wants to change their body either, but this type of mental illness should not be glorified and certainly not called "brave".

A far more caring societal attitude would be recognizing it for the metal illness it is and encouraging psychiatric help.

I do not understand. What is wrong with someone changing their gender? It is their body and their life and as long as they are paying for it with their bucks, it is just fine. If someone feels more comfy being a gender they were not born in, then more power to them to change that aspect of their lives. If they want to be 'something in between' genders, then that is fine too.

I am in favor of the individual and the right of the individual to choose their own course in life. I do not find it in any way wrong or abnormal to change genders, have a facelift, or get tats all over your body. I may not choose to do this, but that is my right to choose too.

The left just wants the right to react and remark on their repulsion so they may be put down as intolerant.

I saw all the Dirty Harry films. Dirty Harry was in trouble with the PC police before anyone called them that. That's why I supported him, and was happy to see Clint Eastwood become a suburban mayor, even if only for one term.

BFD Clint Eastwood has more class in his little finger than most of Hollywood has in their collective. His statement was not that offensive compared to what they say about people who disagree with their leftist and progressive behavior. Bruce Jenner should expect some joking and criticism. What he did to himself was disgusting.

How long do y'all think it will take for that kind of joke to be made a criminal offense?

I actually thought that it was Julie Newmar, with a horrible plastic surgery job, on the cover of VF... Then I just rolled my eyes and was done. This is the most I've spoken about this subject. And it's the last.

Still damn funny! I can hear his voice in it, even if he didn't really write that. Grinning here. Loved the line about the gun but back program, lol!

I stopped watching Dancing with the Stars when they tried to foist Chers offspring as man. I find that and this disgusting and abhorant. What has Jenner or any other kardashians ever produced?

Why are we glorifying this abnormal behavior? Yet again, an infinitely small percentage of the population is redefining "normal" and demanding that the rest of us accept the false view of the world.

Now, for recognizing abnormal and calling it out, we're small-minded bigots. Bruce Jenner is a man, no matter what new name he has or how he dresses... PERIOD.

Johns Hopkins has it right: http://www.wsj.com/articles/paul-mchugh-...

I have a real problem with being forced to accept what Jenner did with open arms. I, personally, am repulsed by it. I wish the guy the best. The story just churns my stomach. The media is obviously used as some sort of social engineering tool...
