Thanks K, we`re just big kids and that`s our playground, we share it with a few moccasins, gators and a bobcat. A friend that did some time in `Nam, said it gave him the chills - reminded him of Laos.

Which is, indeed, worthy of trust. (But not particularly fuzzy or inclined to cuddle.)

Haha! Do the ghosts like to tell stories around the campfire?

Good idea on dogs. We have two, but given circumstances they stay with the wife. On my own, I trust the .45 caliber.

I almost always camp alone and I love it. I go to a secluded spot next to a stream and pitch my tent (medieval pavilion, actually) and set up camp. It is a lovely camp, and I really enjoy the days when I see people at all. For Days and Days at a Time, no other human beings. This really gives me the opportunity to recharge.

I am not particularly concerned about intruders - human or otherwise - because I bring 300lbs of German Shepherds along with me. I have had 'some sort of large animal who did not bother to walk quietly' come through camp a few times...still did not know what it was.

For the first couple of days, however, I do have an exaggerated awareness of the rustling emptiness around me. Occasionally, ghosts visit the camp, but they are pleasant ghosts and like to dance...

Camping alone can be weird. I never camp, alone or not, in "designated" Forest Service or BLM campgrounds. Speaking about the western states here obviously.

The worst for me is laying in a tent at night in grizzly country. Every little snap of a twig or rustle of branches - instant tachycardia!

Of course to tell campfire ghost stories, you need someone to tell it to - so not alone. But as kids the favorite was always the The Hook. And camp counselors could be a merciless bunch.

    Kreative Kira.
    Always fun to view.
When I was a Boy Scout Leader -- actually Cub Scouts because they were easier to scare, my two favorite stories were The Man With The Golden Arm and The Wendigo. I had to be careful, however in order to determine how sensitive my little group was since I didn't want any nightmares or bed wetting.

I started with this one and ended up watching the rest of her videos I had missed. "Dear me" was my favorite. Kira said something that I really liked--I don't remember verbatim, but it was something like once you're no longer afraid to be alone, you start to have a lot of fun. To me, that's learning the difference between being alone and being lonely. It's definitely one of those lessons I've personally found to be very important (and very difficult) to learn. Anyway, I love her smile. I hope she keeps this up!
