I am amused at the PPS, though - polls show some proportion of the people want a smaller government, but continue to elect statists. It's very like talking to Americans about their congresspeople - "Every single member of Congress is bad/corrupt/incompetent/etc. Fire 'em all!"
What about your congressperson?
"Oh, she's great! She's brought so many government jobs to the state, and another public works project is just about to start...."
Of course people want change. They just don't want the "fewer circuses" change to happen to THEM.
The only people who should ever be elected are the ones who don't want the job, and are requesting a recount even as the judge is opening the book for the oath of office.
