The Golden Pinnacle: Really Enjoying it

I picked up Robert Gore’s (straightinlinelogic) latest book The Golden Pinnacle and I am about 20% of the way in. So far it is an outstanding read. Mr. Gore moves seamlessly between war scenes, commerce scenes, and romantic scenes with great skill. The Golden Pinnacle is an epic historical novel that starts with the civil war. The author is not afraid to criticize Lincoln or how the war was conducted or even if it was the best solution to eliminating slavery. One of my favorite lines so far is “The discount for greenbacks wasn’t unusual – Lincoln was printing them as fast as he could.” Lincoln was the first president to institute ‘legal tender laws’ in the US, which I see as more dangerous than the Federal Reserve.
Like K and my book Pendulum of Justice, Mr. Gore’s novel is about values and his hero strength is action based on reason not his ability to beat people up.

Dale and Kaila Halling, thanks for your comments. When I wrote The Golden Pinnacle, I had intelligent, liberty-loving readers like the citizens of Galt's Gulch in mind. I thought they would appreciate the themes and enjoy the story, and it is gratifying to hear of Galt's Gulchers doing just that. The publishing world has been taken over by the same forces that control the rest of the MSM, so it is very important to find and support voices of reason, creativity, and freedom, which can now be heard through self-publishing and e-readers.

Speaking of which, I finished Pendulum of Justice and am working on reviews for both Galt's Gulch and Amazon. I enjoyed POJ very much and I urge any member of Galt's Gulch who has not yet read it to do so.

    xthinker,
If it would not be too much trouble, may I ever so humbly beseech you to put up a review on Amazon?

Awesome book. I finished it New Years Day. It reminded me of a genre that I read a lot a long time ago that covered the lifespan of individuals (like Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer). Well written. Excellent presentation of ideas. Good build up of suspense even though I worried about that part knowing the main "issue" all the way from the prologue. Heroes (and villains) of Rand-esque proportions.

Reading books about characters like these (or Atlas Shrugged) though always make me realize how little I have accomplished in my life and how screwed up things have been lately. Inspiring but depressing at the same time.

Indeed Lincoln is one of the most overrated presidents. The myth building is just that. I am not going to say who was right but point out the North cutoff commerce shipping lanes that the South depended on for income. That forced the South's hand; call it a false flag. Lincoln then could not raise soldiers initially (NYC riot) so he switched the justification to Slavery. He also implemented wage/price freeze and massive trade tariffs. For any war when you dig down past the propaganda you find much ugliness.

with regard to his handling of Lincoln, sounds like the author may know more about the true history of the war and slavery than most. I'll put it on my reading list. thanks

By the way, my husband just finished reading Pendulum of Justice, and like my Mother, he thoroughly enjoyed it. :)
(I know I know, reviews.. I'm trying to figure out how to do that without them all showing up under the same name....I'm also trying to figure out how to bottle up time.)
