We are all wonderfully nerdy. We enjoy thinking, which is considered "uncool." I'm more than fine with that designation.

Well done. I enjoyed that. I understand what she was saying about Star Trek, but I see Star Trek to be entirely too socialist. After all, the government in Star Trek is the Federation.

Rather, I think Star Wars is much more of an Objectivist oriented story. There is some altruism in there with the Jedi, but often it is their commitment to it that causes their failures. The galaxy in Star Wars is VERY capitalist and its not presented as evil. Dedication to systems are the evil in Star Wars. But Star Trek always make me feel kind of sick because of their emphasis on the "greater good."

Me, too. I'm in major outrage mode here. And the anointed one is showing up in my state today. Gag!! I feel like painting a big FU on my roof, while I wave the pirate flag!

No, however if you have a link I'd like to see it.

Whedon confuses the hell out of me.
The ideas in his series and movies are libertarian... and then he opens his pie hole.

I like Star Trek but I never thought of it as objectivist. Firefly is another matter. Those guys used reasoned self-interest.

I adore Sunny, but she is WRONG.
