I will do a rare thing and actually give some credit to my county's government in Brevard County, FL. When the space program came here 50+ years ago, the Intracoastal Waterway was called the Indian River (as in Indian River grapefruits) and dumped into what was then called Mosquito Lagoon before dumping into the Atlantic. My county has gotten those blood-sucking vermin down to a very well-managed low level with periodic airplane spraying of insect repellent.
