Common Core likened to education in former USSR

This article shows that objections to Common Core standards are not just a pet peeve of the "conservatives/republicans. It is clearly a means of socializing even further the role of public education in this country. It is a data mining project, aiming at ultimately creating little yes men/women and order following drones of our children, and ultimately creating a society that is brainwashed to follow, not lead.

The following quote sums up rather well what good intentions, (which Common Core was never meant to be), lead to. The destruction of people to think for themselves, problem solve and unapologetically succeed.

CAMPBELLā€™S LAW

"The more any quantitative social indicator is used for social decision-making, the more subject it will be to corruption pressures and the more apt it will be to distort and corrupt the social processes it is intended to monitor."

- Donald Campbell

The tests are priority number one with the scores broken down and analyzed more than most company financials. It doesn't just end there, though--the kids' quizzes and regular exams are also being broken down the same way every single day by some learning objective. There are files of our students with more numbers than letters to explain who they are, what they can do, and predictors of what they may be able to accomplish down the road. All of this is used to make decisions and judge the kids' "academic capabilities" as well as teacher effectiveness (which is now being tied to their pay in some districts--bring on even more corruption and politics). What I've said so many times to anyone who listens is that statistics are skewed to fit someone's agenda. Corruption in large school districts is rampant and these "indicators" are always the major talking points for pushing money this way or the other. In the end, our kiddos are becoming test-taking machines rather than thinkers and our teachers are figures who push more paperwork than instruct. How can we fix this for a child who can't afford a private education?

The only way is to accept ZERO dollars from the gov't, in any form. Each district is it's own keeper. We are small here, but have an amazing high school. The teachers are independent thinkers for the most part. Unfortunately, we have a progressive governor, and a majority in the state are of the same ilk...
It really is a form of prostitution in my opinion, because the governors are pimping out the schools and we are getting screwed to the tune of outrageous taxes. And the kids suffer the most.
This article is a wake up call for people to get off their couches, and start pushing back against this atrocity!
