It is nice to see someone try to create a new business, especially when he is not trying to create the whole tech thing at the same time. I hope they succeed. I drive 62 miles each way to work, by myself, so I am quite interested. I have a Ford Fiesta that cost 17K, and gets 41 mpg, but this thing is a large leap. Now just have to see what comes of the crash ratings.
The appeal is someone leveraged current technology to build a car to fit a perceived need. It is a 3 wheeled, 3 cylinder engined vehicle, with the interior of a car, 86 MPG hwy, 49 mpg city, small, 2 passengers 1 front, 1 back, and costs 6800.00. They anticipate a 5 star crash rating, on top of it all. An engineer entrepreneur saw a need, hates the idea of the US sending money overseas for oil, and believed people would buy it. I find that very appealing from both a driver perspective, and the fact someone did something because they believed in it. They are going to use a shuttered GM factory in Shreveport, La., to build in, and provide 1500 jobs. All in all, I think it is a really good move.
I liked the building a new business angle. And the gas milage but at some point it 's obvious the smaller you are the better the gas milage. They did say top crash rating but I can guess who'll likely win in a crash between the driver of the three wheeler and a suburban. People are clearly enthusiastic about it and I wish the company much good business. A new American car company is a good thing
