Here you go. Vaccines used as an "in" for force.

This is from Tuesday when SB277, here in California, passed its third committee. This is exactly where I thought this was going to go. And, here it is. Enjoy...my fellow Objectivists. Society took the Disneyland story from Brian Williams hook-line-sinker. This is the direct result. The media sets the agenda. The left pounces.

...And, for the first time in America's modern history you will see families ripped apart by law enforcement when those families have harmed nobody. Doors will be kicked in and children will be forcibly taken. Parents will be thrown in jail and will get their children back only if/when the authorities deem it appropriate (maybe never).

A new precedent for America. Enjoy...my fellow Objectivists.

" Undervalue our power...If we believe that children are being harmed, that we go into this domain of family rights which are not absolute...we're not going far enough."

This is a slippery slope. Family law is not based on law. I know several hundred children. Not one of them has been harmed by missing a vaccine. Not one...

My dad watched this clip and said, "That's just a scare tactic." I replied that this guy is actually PROMOTING the bill, and voted for it about 20 minutes after saying this.

    Frankly...this is surreal. I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Any video with a big red blurb about the "deadly polio vaccine" is not going to get much sympathy from me.

That does raise an interesting dilemma. I am opposed to the use of force to vaccinate, although I do think it is reasonable for a school to require vaccinations for admittance.

When it comes to Polio, like smallpox, a disease which only occurs in human beings, it is possible to completely eradicate it from existence. But you have to vaccinate EVERYONE for this to succeed.

    That's tough.

So, I want to understand. The use of force is ok in this case as you're concerned?

      Thanks William.

        No, I'm struggling with it.

In an Objectivist world, how do you deal with communicable diseases? If someone's desire not to be vaccinated/treated makes them a danger to those around them, what do you do?

If someone with an active case of TB moves into the Gulch what do you do?

I listened to some of the testimony/debate of this hearing as it was happening. One question brought up by the one Republican lawmaker towards the author of the bill was, "Do you let children with AIDS or hepatitis go to school?" "Yes." "Then, why wouldn't you let somebody not vaccinated for hepatitis go to school." (long pause) And, that is a material fact. What we are talking about with this law is medical treatment where there is no illness with the subject. It gets really fuzzy, really fast, in terms of ethics.

Oh, and to answer your question - I'd want to provide reasonable/safe quarantine of somebody at the Gulch with TB. (quick answer with little thought...haha)
