Watching the results of her leadership live, right now...the results are disgusting on several levels. Protection of an individual's life and property are not a priority.
I read another article where they were trying to excuse this tactic. The idea was that really, overall, there was minimal property damage, there were 34 arrests and the goal was to de-escalate. The analogy was sometimes punching a punching bag takes away the anger (referring to the recent mysterious death of a man last week and the subsequent suspensions of several officers). I must say, I am very angry that law abiding citizens were corralled and thugs allowed "space." I also do not live in a major city, so there is definitely history enough to have good ideas on how to "handle" these kinds of rumbles. Ultimately, this was not home-grown. This was a manufactured protest from out of towners. THAT needs to be squelched. THAT is the root of many problems stemming from Occupiers of 2012. If I were the mayor-I'd want to know where that money came from. If I was a Baltimore citizen I'd want to know if those same groups gave money to the mayor's campaign. This is easy journalism to do. will anyone take it on? probably not. Our journalism today is a bunch of Op-eds. Facts not required, digging deeper to get a great story? not so much
