Anyone here seen the documentary Occupy Unmasked?
I just finished watching it, and its pretty incredible. I had always thought the Occupy movement was just a bunch of people upset at the bad economy. And while it certainly was that, it was also much more. Apparently, many of the original organizers who initiated the whole Occupy movement were actual, genuine Communists. I'm not saying that as an insult. I literally mean they were members of the Communist party.
Now of course most of the protesters themselves were not Communists (though granted, some of them were), they were just pawns being manipulated by forces they didn't understand and tricked into doing things that upset the establishment. But the leaders, the orchestrators, the men behind the curtains, so to speak -- they were all Communists.
I personally wasn't anywhere near where the major Occupy movements were occurring, so I didn't really know what was going on with them except what was presented in the media. But this documentary was a real eye-opener for me. If you haven't seen it yet, I would highly recommend it.

I did check out this thread earlier today and gave you one of the thumbs up you have on the topic heading. It does deserve positive feedback. Of course people are naturally inclined to speak up when they have a strong negative reaction and remain silent in the face of something agreeable. Your take on this matter is no doubt quite agreeable with most here. If there is something to be said about this, it is that it is no surprise to many here. When the occupy movement was at its peak, this group came to conclusions this documentary confirms and we pounded the subject... Many have become numb to the knowledge/acceptance of the communist element these days. It is repugnant in my view. The days when communists were ostracized should return in my opinion, but then you are slammed with McCarthyism epithets... Also there is so much more content offered on this board these days, I find it difficult to keep up. Keep in mind even the most active senior members here have submissions that have surprisingly gone nowhere. I have no doubt you have many that have viewed this entry and simply nodded in agreement and moved on. What can they add? I do have one question. Can you provide more info regarding where and when one might view this documentary?

It is a problem... a conundrum. I hope we can educate the people and minimize the communists and overwhelm them as opposed to government oppression of speech. It is this insidious political correctness and reticence on the part of the people that know better. We must not remain silent. We must encourage others likewise to speak out. We are doing what must be done. I hope we inspire others. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke
And yeah, I kind of wonder whether shunning Communist ideas and parties would be a good idea. I'm kind of torn on this issue because I believe in freedom of speech, but at the same time Communism is a destructive and deadly force, and allowing it to be preached openly has dangerous consequences for all of society. But if we attempt to root it out and destroy it like McCarthy did, do we not then become totalitarian oppressors ourselves? Must we choose between freedom and economic prosperity? If we do decide that certain ideas, such as Communism, cannot be legally endorsed in public, what's to stop our government from trying to suppress other ideas it decides are dangerous? By what metric should the legality of an idea be measured?
Thank you. I will try and watch it this weekend.
