    There were some accuracy issues with the mini14 (compared to the AR) for about 10 years of production (can't remember when that was fixed.) I believe the more recent models are ok.

    That's all there is to it. The cosmetic differences are what make the ignorant sheeple come en masse with torches and pitchforks, whining about the scary guns. Hey! Don't run with those pitchforks! You could put out an eye!

    The difference is the mini-14 has a nice walnut stock, no hand guards over the barrel and is not all black.

    In other words it looks more like a standard rifle even though its genesis was the M-14, so it doesn't cause the touchy feelies to lose their minds.

    It is so simple to point out the problems with an "Assault Weapon" ban. The mushy definition politicians come up with devolved down to "scary looking' weapons.

    Tell me other than appearance what is the major difference between an AR-15 or knockoff with a 20 round mag and a mini-14 with a 20 round mag.

    Both are gas operated
    Both have 20 round mags
    Both are chambered to fire both 5.56 nato and .223 Remington

    This is exactly the illogical blather that causes the masses to blindly nod in glassy eyed slack jawed assent. Just say something looks "scary", and that's all it takes to strip your 2nd amendment choices.

    It is what happened here in CT after Sandy hook. "Oh, that shotgun with a pistol grip looks scary!" Now, shotguns w/pistol grips are illegal here in commie CT. Large capacity magazines should be banned. Thy hold too many rounds. Well, what got banned are STANDARD capacity. People are just too damn stupid to live!! Agghhhh. I know, I'm trying to refrain from hyperbolic diatribes, but SHEESH!

    The dissenting judge has his facts straight. Now, where can we find more of his measure??
