I haven't either. Crime isn't the only benefit. I think there's enormous benefit in the idea that people are grownups who can and should take responsible action in an emergency. When I hear 911 tapes in the media, the operates often tell the callers to take no action and wait for the police. I don't think this is an evil gov't plot to take away our freedoms. We've just become a mature nation that's too comfortable with its institutions rather than individuals handling problems.

If we were an armed, self-confident, self-reliant population, there would be less need IMHO for US to have a large standing army stationed around the world to respond to distant conflicts because we're scared the bad guys will come here.

after concealed carry was approved, I haven't heard

This is what happens when you have people providing transportation without a license and carrying weapons without being a gov't agent. We need more of it.
