I thought listening to the lyrics could get you high.:-)
I think their music has stood the test of time. It still sounds great.

The Doors were one of my favorite groups but I could only understand the lyrics when I was high. I guess I have to listen to them now.

When I was 11, I wrote Janis a letter asking her to marry me. She died about two weeks later. Being a devout Catholic at the time, I thought my letter had some undefined responsibility for her untimely death. Many years later, I met Janis' younger sister Laura at an exhibit of Joplin costumes and memorabilia in San Francisco. When I told Laura and her daughter (who much resembled Janis) this story, Laura gazed at me and yelled, "so it was you!"

    ISTR hearing that, yes.

You don't hear too much these days about musicians who actually play their instruments well.

I can't speak to country music, but Satriani and Steve Vai are old timers. (Remember Whitesnake?)

As a little trivia, did you know that Joe Satriani was Steve Vai's guitar teacher out on Long Island back in the Stone Age?

I wish my poetry could be as great as Morrison's lyrics. As far as I'm concerned he was top rock lyricist of all time. This reminds me that I must go on Amazon and download mp3's from his albums.

AR would have described the doors as irrational, along with many other bands of that era. The Doors, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles all drew inspiration from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
